One of my longtime dreams has been to develop and publish video games. Predating Donkey Kong by two months, and having been exposed to them at a very early age by an Atari 8-bit computer my father picked up at a garage sale, it's easy to say that gaming has been a constant fixture in my life.
While in college, some friends and I attempted to start a game development and publishing company; while we didn't see a great deal of success, we did learn a lot and we saw a lot, and I made a number of contacts which I still have today.
Recent advances in AI have been instrumental in helping me understand the programming side of things, which I have always struggled to wrap my head around. Rather than strive to reinvent the wheel, knowing there is a lot of boilerplate code for many game structures, I've used Anthropic's Claude as a tool to help write the code which has lead to the December 2026 launch of Royal Bomb Squad POP!
Based on characters my friends and I created once upon a time, RBSP is a classic "bubble shooter" themed around a wacky cast of characters with an enthusiasm for explosives. Developing it and preparing for its release on Steam and other platforms has been instrumental in catching me up with the business side of the industry - a lot has changed in 20 years - and it's just been a joy to assemble.
It's built using the Godot game engine, due to its lightweight nature, as well as its free and open source status.
It'll be available 12/1/26 on Steam and other marketplaces shortly thereafter, for Windows, MacOS, and Linux. We look forward to console releases in the near future as well!
